WordPress Plugin: Fix Database
Place fixdb.php in your /wp-content/plugins/ folder and the login to your admin area. Activate the plugin. Now in the admin area, when you click Options there will be a sub-menu titled “Fix Database.” Go to that link, if you click the button on that page titled “Fix Database” the script will then check all the tables within that database. If any report an error it will attempt to repair the table. Once that is done it will optimize the tables.
Good for when the comments table is left open and nobody is able to make or view comments until it is repaired. Now you don’t have to log into phpMyAdmin to repair the table, just run this.

Update: This works with Wordpress 2.3, no update to the plugin needed.

Thanks! I’m new to wordpress and managed to mess up my sidebar. Not sure what I did but I can’t edid it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You can find my blog in my profile. Again, great plugin!

One spammer in particular was causing me repeated problems with that error. I’ve just ran your plugin and am awaiting his next ping with interest to see if i can finally train Akismet that this person’s trackbacks are nothing but spam.
Meanwhile, I actually wrote a post today entitled “Send Me Your Spam”, not sure why, check it out…it’s post dated December 3, 2007 on http://www.sciencetext.com

Had the unknown column “pingback_views” error when I deleted comments and your plugin fixed it.
